As our newsletter evolves, we thought it would be a vital opportunity to reintroduce our founder and CEO, DeeAnn Antonini. After over 18 years providing services to students and parents throughout California, we sat down for an open hearted discussion of what she’s seen. There’s a lot to learn from an educational entrepreneur such as DeeAnn.One of our biggest takeaways is that in order to fill other’s cups, DeeAnn prioritizes filling her own. She ensures she makes time for a yoga practice regularly as well as incorporates various elements of self-care. This allows her to approach our programs with a balanced and calm approach. It also allows her to remain focused on the goal of serving others in our communities and filling their cups in the process. If you haven’t had the opportunity to meet her, let’s take a glimpse into her diverse background and leadership style.
What are the core values that have sustained JIM Enterprises Inc. over the years?
JIM Enterprises has learned to adapt to the constantly changing educational landscape while being ready to pivot instructionally and operationally when needed to sustain the success of our programs. We have managed this by staying committed to our core values of: Academic excellence first and always, Uncompromised respect and integrity with everyone and all we do, Dedicated to serving our communities and their families, Achieving the highest service standards, and Striving to exceed expectations in every community served.
How has your leadership style evolved as the organization has grown and matured?
From starting with one school district to working with more than fifty California school districts, I have gained quite an education and understanding of how to be a successful leader. As a leader, I take the ultimate responsibility for the successes and the failures of the business. I have also learned that to be an effective leader, it is my responsibility to recognize the potential in people, and ideas while having the courage to develop that potential. Leadership becomes infinite when you share it with vulnerability and courage.
How do you gather and incorporate feedback from your partners and stakeholders to ensure continued relevance and impact?
JIM Enterprises operates by using an “Open Door” policy with our employees as well as our LEA partners. We operate a very transparent organization that values feedback and collaboration from our stakeholders. Every summer our Executive and Administrative staff work together to review and analyze operational procedures, instructional curriculum and program data based on observations and communication we have received throughout the school year.
How did your organization adapt during the COVID-19 pandemic, and what lasting changes have been made as a result?
Like everyone else, JIM Enterprises quickly adapted to a virtual learning environment to support our families. The beauty of this experience is that during this time, we were able to close the digital divide for many of the families we serve. Families now have better access and a better understanding of technology which allows our company to provide virtual academic support on a much larger scale. Unfortunately, we know that our students are still experiencing the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. Our programs have been a great support tool for making up for their learning loss.
How do you want your organization to be remembered in the education sector when you eventually step away from your role?
Great question! When I look back over the past 18 years, firstly it is very satisfying to know that JIM Enterprises has helped and supported thousands of California students in their education. Secondly, it is rewarding to know that JIM Enterprises has provided employment opportunities and professional development for thousands of educators. And finally, the very best feeling is that the business will be in great hands with the amazing leaders that are now running the company!
Thank you, DeeAnn for sharing your open hearted and candid feedback. We’ll all continue to grow under your leadership.
