If you’ve been hired and onboarded with JIM Enterprises Inc. in the last 2 years, then you’ve likely had the pleasure of interviewing with Fatima “Tima” Seward. She is our Executive Administrator and does a thorough job of not only interviewing candidates but walking them through the entire onboarding process. She came to JIM Enterprises Inc. with a wealth of experience and knowledge. To get to know her further, we conducted an interview highlighting areas she maintains within our organization.

- What prior experiences from your career have you brought to JIM Enterprises to enhance our processes and improve operations?
During my 30+ years in banking operations I had the opportunity to manage relationships with two key groups: the External Customer and the Internal Customer. Delivering excellence on both fronts involved managing staff, including hiring, and training and development on the Internal front. Meeting the needs of the Internal Customer was pivotal to our collective ability to deliver high quality service to the External Customer. My goal with JIM Enterprises is to deliver responsive, accessible service to our employees who can then deliver the same excellent service to our clients.
- What qualities and skills do you prioritize when interviewing candidates?
A passion for working with students. Even individuals who don’t have a lot of classroom experience can demonstrate their interest and desire to spend time with young people.
- What common mistakes do candidates make during the interview process?
Remarkably, lack of preparation. Too often, they have no idea who we are or what we do. Of course I’m happy to tell our story, but it shows initiative when they’ve done a bit of homework.
- How do you handle employee onboarding to ensure a smooth transition for new hires?
I take the opportunity to explain our process and emphasize the need for accuracy in providing the required documents and the time-sensitive nature of the onboarding steps.
- How do you communicate company values and expectations to new and existing employees?
I love our story and our mission and I’m always happy to share with applicants. I also believe that my attitude and desire to help others succeed conveys a message about who we are. Holding ourselves and others accountable for decisions and actions is the highest form of respect.
- What leadership qualities do you think are most important in this organization?
The ability to execute on the Mission without compromising ethical standards.
- How do you balance the needs of employees with the goals of the executive team?
It’s a balance. It’s important to recognize that some employees may need flexibility to deliver their best work. However, the flexibility cannot come at the expense of meeting our obligations to our clients. This is where the goals set by the executive team are critical in setting the correct tone.
- How do you fill your cup so you’re better able to fill other’s cups?
Time with family is always a “cup filling” experience, especially with my six grandchildren. I’m an active Rotarian and volunteer for several non-profits. Volunteering helps me touch others with the warmth of human kindness and fills my cup in immeasurable ways.
Thank you Tima, for not only bringing your experience to JIM Enterprises, but helping spreading joy within the community by your dedicated volunteer work.
